For God through Christ!

Founded in 1815, First Congregational Church has been a spiritual and historic landmark in downtown Meredith for 188 years.  Our heritage includes the New England Pilgrims and Puritans, as well as the Congregational Christian Church.  We are a member congregation of the United Church of Christ, whose motto is, "That They May All Be One."  We are proud to be ecumenical partners with the congregations of our community, mission partners with Christian churches around the world, and denominational partners within the New Hampshire Conference, UCC.

We are active participants in service and mission activities, both locally and globally.  Sunday worship is supplemented with special services for Advent, Christmas, Holy Week, and Thanksgiving.

We preach Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and we work and pray for a more just and peaceful world in his name.

Come and live the gospel with us!

The Rev. Dr. Russell Rowland became pastor of First Congregational Church UCC in 2003.  Ordained in the United Church of Christ in 1972, he came to New Hampshire in 1984 after serving churches in his native state, Connecticut.  He attended Earlham College, holds M.A. and M.Div. degrees from Hartford Seminary, and a D.Min. degree from Bangor Seminary.

Pastor Russ is a former member of the NH Conference Outdoor Ministries Board and the Merrimack Association Committee on Ministry.  He is a Trail Adopter for the Castle in the Clouds Conservation Area, fan of classical music, published poet, and father of a married daughter.  His poetry chapbook, "Train of All Cabooses," is available from Finishing Line Press.
